An impressive £16,000 raised at annual charity event
More than 100 guests attended Equiom’s seventh ladies lunch for the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group last month, raising over £16,000 for the charity - bringing the total raised to date to £103,000.
The funds raised this year will go towards the replacement of the cold caps used by cancer patients receiving chemotherapy treatment at Nobles Hospital. The cold caps reduce the amount of chemotherapy medicine that reaches the hair follicles and with less chemotherapy medicine in the follicles, the hair may be less likely to fall out.
The event, which was once again held at Portofino Restaurant in Douglas, and supported by Mario and his fantastic team, featured an auction, luxury hamper prize draw and a raffle, presented by Equiom’s Executive Chairman Sheila Dean. More than 30 unique prizes were kindly donated by a wide range of businesses and individuals.
Sheila Dean commented: ‘It was another fabulous event and I am so grateful to all of those who contributed prizes for both the raffle and the auction. Now in its sixth year, the ladies lunch is always greatly anticipated and I am once again hugely grateful to our very generous guests. As patron of the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group, it really is incredible to see the difference our fundraising makes to local patients. I would like to say a massive thank you to all of those who helped to make this event such a huge success.’
