Our tax and VAT division, Equiom Tax Services Limited, will be hosting their annual seminar with international real estate advisor, Savills on 26 November from 8:15 – 10am at the Claremont Hotel. Experts from both businesses will address key issues and opportunities for UK property owners and investors living in the Isle of Man.

Glenn will provide an update on the taxation of UK property including changes brought about at the start of the new tax year and their potential impact on local residents. Simon will explain when decennial charges apply to property owners and also touch on valuations for non-resident capital gains tax (NRCGT) on disposals of UK property. Faisal and Steven will address the challenges and opportunities in the residential and commercial property sectors and finally, Alec will discuss the changes to leasehold reform and how it affects UK property ownership.
Helen Woods explained the idea behind the seminar:
‘This seminar grows in popularity each year for Island residents and business owners who have an interest in UK property. This year is expected to be no different and with new and informative topics on the agenda and a strong team of experts to guide us through recent changes in the industry, I am confident that the 2019 seminar will give Islanders the knowledge required to stay better informed about their UK property assets. I look forward to an engaging agenda. Hope to see you there.’
Simon Aldous continued:
‘A number of important changes have been announced in the property industry over the past year, not least the reform of leasehold and changes to the taxation of UK property for non-UK residents. With the benefit of Equiom’s expertise on the tax side and our Savills real estate professionals, we are able to make sense of these changes. If you are a UK property owner or investor living in the Isle of Man, I urge you to attend our seminar which I am sure will give you a useful insight into the overall management of your property.’
